Requirements to Apply

Do you meet one of the following criterias?

  • Active Duty Service Member

  • A Veteran (Currently NOT serving)

  • Spouse of an Active Duty Military member

  • Spouse of a Veteran

  • ACTIVE role as an ACT Now volunteer Team Member

  • Reservist

  • National Guard

  • Military Dependent 18+

Request for Vouchers

  • Exam vouchers are available exclusively at select ACT Now Orientations or through our ACT Now Education Cohorts. Direct Messages or Emails are not an option for requesting and obtaining vouchers. No exceptions!

Are you apart of the ACT Now Education Facebook group?

  • All qualified personnel WILL need a Facebook account to become a member of our ACT Now Facebook Group to gain access to Splunk.

IF YOU HAVE VERIFIED THE INFORMATION ABOVE IS TRUE FOLLOW THESE STEPS FOR SUCCESS

NOTE: Each application is separate. You MUST apply to each in order to obtain access. I.e. just because you apply to Splunk does NOT mean you automatically applied to Coursera. If you want to apply to both then you need to apply on their respective applications.

STEP 1

You MUST attend an orientation to receive the code to register successfully. Orientations are held every Saturday at 1:00 PM EST and run to 3:00 PM EST.

STOP AND READ ME: The email you register with for Orientation with is the same email you apply to programs with. Orientation is tracked via the survey provided ONLY during the Orientation. Be sure to submit the code provided in the survey, else you will need to attend another Orientation. Your application will NOT move forward.

STEP 2

If you have not done so already, navigate to the Military Community Resources ACT Now Facebook group or click the "Click to Join" Button above.

  • Request to join the group

  • Answer the Group Questions (We will NOT approve your membership request, unless ALL 3 questions are answered in FULL)

  • IF YOU ARE ALREADY IN THE FB GROUP, CONTINUE TO STEP 3

STEP 3

  • Make the following individual group post. NOT in the comment sections of posts

  • Each post to the group must be approved.

  • We do this so your information is not shared with the group.

  • Once completed, we will create your account, and the post will be deleted.

To complete this step successfully, enter the following information:

  • Provide a valid email address in the post. Failure to do so WILL result in a rejection of your request.

  • Email address

  • "I promise to start a course today. I'm here to learn with #Splunk #ACTNowEducation."

ACCOUNT VERIFIED AND APPROVED.

STEP 4

  • Complete the Splunk Account Application. You WILL receive an email with NOT READY state if the email used to apply is different that the email you attended registration with. So ensure you utilize the same email, or there will be a delay in your applications approval.

  • To receive a free Splunk account, you MUST be a member of our Military Community Resources ACT

    Now Facebook group.

  • ONLY submit your application if you have requested to "join" or are a "current" group member.

  • Ensure that you have submitted the survey during Orientation mentioned in step one. Else you WILL receive an email with NOT READY state.

  • Please allow up to two weeks to have your application reviewed, emails will not be reviewed if a minimum of one week has not passed.

Triple check to make sure your email is correct before continuing. (i.e. "com" instead of ".con" and matches the email submitted in the Facebook post. )
* Your Splunk username is the same as your email that you used to register your Splunk account. Creating your account now will save you time when your access is approved. See "Step 5" for creating a Splunk account, if you don't already have one.
Ethnicity
* Civilians = No military affiliation i.e. NOT a Military Spouse, dependent, Active or Reserve Member, etc. Civilian in this context is NOT to be confused with Federal Employee.
* For MilSpouse/MilDependent please put in the End of Active Obligated Service (EAOS) of your Service Member
* This is a hard requirement. This is "Step 2" of the application process.

FAQ

Unable to submit code to SplunkWork+ button not working

If you tried submitting the code to SplunkWork+ and the methods in the guide did not work, please try again the following day. It's a known issue with Splunk. Most times this persists during the weekend but seems to work fine during the week. If the issue persist longer than a few days email [email protected] and ensure to submit a loom detailing the problem.

The secondary code I received is not applying the discount to the courses and I received an error when applying it

After applying the primary code to SplunkWork+, you will need to allow up to 72 hrs to for your account to be synced with ACT Now Education. This happens on Splunks backend. Splunk will email you when your account is ready to go. This is also mentioned in the guide. Sometimes you receive the email before 72hrs.

All this to say is that you need to be patient and wait for Splunk to email you that your account is ready. If it has been longer than 72 hrs, then at that point you should email [email protected] notifying them that it has been more than 72 hrs and you have yet to receive the email stating your account has been synced with the organization ACT Now Education.

I completed all the courses, how do I apply for a voucher?

Request for Vouchers
Exam vouchers are available exclusively at select ACT Now Orientations or through our ACT Now Education Cohorts. Direct Messages or Emails are not an option for requesting and obtaining vouchers. No exceptions!

Interpretation: DO NOT request a voucher. ACT Now Education will only provide vouchers at select Orientations. Those Orientations will be announced in the ACT Now Education Facebook group. The vouchers will ONLY be provided to select individuals that meet the conditions of that Orientation and only a certain number of vouchers will be provided.
